In public safety, a radio that fails is not an inconvenience. It is a danger to the person holding it and to the public. Mission-critical radios are built to a higher standard: rugged housings, loud and clear audio, dedicated emergency buttons, and batteries that last a full shift and beyond. The systems behind them are designed with backup power and redundancy so that they stay on the air when everything else is failing.

P25 and interoperability

Project 25, or P25, is the digital radio standard developed for public safety in North America. Its purpose is interoperability: radios from different manufacturers, carried by different agencies, can communicate with one another during a joint response. FirstCom Radio supplies, programs, and services P25 radios and systems, along with analog, DMR, and NXDN equipment for agencies that use them.

Secure communications

Sensitive operations call for communications that cannot be monitored. We provide radios with full voice and data encryption, including AES-256, and we manage encryption keys so that authorized users can talk securely with one another.
